MAKES DISCIPLES WHO MAKE DISCIPLES.

The second piece of the CBC foundational vision statement is that believe God calls us to be a church of disciples who makes disciples. We not only want to be faithful in preaching and teaching the word of God and reaching out to those around us, we also desire that CBC would be a church that fulfills the call in Ephesians 4:12 to build up the body for the work of the ministry.

WHAT DO WE MEAN BY BE A DISCIPLE?

A disciple is follower of Jesus—a redeemed person living under Christ the King, seeking to be transformed more and more into His likeness and helping others to do the same.

WHAT IS OUR VISION FOR DISCIPLESHIP AT CBC?

At CBC, we view disciple-making not as a program of the church, but as is an identity of the Christian. It should permeate everything we do! We desire to be a church of disciples of Jesus helping to make other disciples of Jesus. This means our expectation is that every member of the church would see it as their responsibility to help others grow in Christ. We desire to have a culture where this happens and often and naturally in both the programs of discipleship and everyday life.

How do we disciple others?

Discipling others means helping a person grow in character (heart-transformation resulting in a new lifestyle), conviction (thinking Christianly about the world), and competence (skills necessary to know and serve God and others). This happens through formal programs CBC is working to establish like GAP and GRO, the preaching of God’s word on Sunday’s, studying God’s word in men’s and women’s bible study groups, and through organic relationships we develop with each other.

HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE WORK OF DISCIPLESHIP?

You can participate by joining one of formal training programs, GAP and GRO, or by seeking out a 1on1 mentoring partnership.
